Emitt Thomas Self, Jr. was born May 24, 1950 in Fairfield, Texas to Emitt Thomas Self, Sr. and Willa Faye (Scruggs) Self. He passed from this life on Monday, March 7, 2022 in McKinney, Texas at the age of 71. 
Emitt attended schools at Fairfield and Denton. Emitt served our country during Vietnam with the United States Army. He married his sweetheart, Deborah Jean Scoggins in Sherman, Texas. They came to Mead in May 2019 from Branson, Mo. Emitt was employed as a construction operator and a truck driver. He enjoyed putting a smile on everyone’s face.
Emitt was preceded in death by his father, Emitt Thomas Self, Sr.; son, Johnny G. Self; and brother, Terry Douglas Self.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah; his mother, Willa Faye Self; children, Dedra Miller of Durant, Terry Self of Broken Arrow, Monica R. Bryant of Durant, James T. Self of Durant, and Priscilla G. Ingle of Sapulpa; sister, Rosemary Simons; brothers, David Self, Stanley Self, Arlen Self, Johnny Self, Christopher Self and Randall Self; 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and two great-grandkids on the way.
A memorial service in his honor was held on March 19, 2022.
