DURANT – When you can see yourself as a real superhero how do you feel? Strong! Brave! Powerful!
That is how Shanna Johnson and the staff at Don’t Blink Photography want some special young people in the community to feel. And they want to give those children to opportunity to feel that way through an exciting opportunity to be photographed as a favorite superhero.
On Saturday, Apr. 14, Don’t Blink Photography will be hosting special sessions for children who are dealing with difficult medical challenges. The opportunity will run from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
Johnson said she was excited about working on this ‘Give Back’ project for the community.
“When you see yourself as a superhero, it makes you feel empowered,” Johnson said. “We want to try to put that image in young people’s little hearts and souls and minds. That can really build them up emotionally. We’re trying to make that happen here.
“We have a little boy, Noah, who took the picture and they hung his poster up in his hospital room. He was able to see that everyday. And just being able to envision him actually being a superhero and being able to face those challenges, it was very powerful for him.”
Those who have little superheroes in their lives are encouraged to bring them out on Saturday for the photo shoot, which Johnson said could be a spark to help them with their confidence and strength. All children who take part will be given a 36×24 poster of the favorite pose.
