DURANT – The sun has shined brightly on Durant in July for ribbon cuttings and Wednesday proved to be another bright day.

Element 5 Day Spa was the recipient of the beautiful morning weather to get to cut the ribbon signifying entrance into the Durant Area Chamber of Commerce.

Co-owner Wendy Hickok talked about what makes Element 5 special in the Bryan and Grayson County areas.

“One thing that makes us unique is that we are the only place that is just designated for massage and estheticians,” Hickok said. “And we’re the only place besides the casino that has a couples room that we keep open all the time. And we have three licensed massage therapists and two licensed estheticians. And we’re going to be offering body waxing and we’ll be the only place in Durant that has body waxing.”

The question arose at the ribbon cutting about the definition of esthetician and Kimberly Snead, one of the Licensed Estheticians on staff, fielded it.

“It’s a really nice way to say we’re obsessed with skin care,” Snead said. “Your skin in the largest organ in your body. And just like you take care of the rest of your body, we want to help you take care of your skin, because it is important to your overall health. And we do focus on health and wellness, not just beauty. We want you to feel good from the inside out.”

Snead said she treats men and women of all ages.

The business opened the day after Christmas 2016 and is located at 518 N. Washington Avenue in Durant.

Hickok, along with co-owner Cammi Mowles, are Licensed Massage Therapists, as is Kay Ridgway, and Snead and Rhonda Keithley are the LE’s on staff.

Hickok said Element 5 Day Spa gives a variety of ways to stop by.

“We take walk-ins, if we can,” Hickok said. “We have an online scheduling system and people can go to our website (element5massage.com) or they can call us and get any one of us on the phone at (580) 634-3117. The website shows all of our availability and all of our calendars and it’s really easy to do. And you can even pay online, if you want.”

The office hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m Monday through Friday and appointments can be scheduled 9 am. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Mowles closed the ribbon cutting by speaking about the importance of the people who visit the business.

“It’s all about the client and making them feel relaxed. When they leave here, they are going to have a different view of their day.”
