Eagles heading to the area tournament for first time in program history

The Legacy Christian Eagles girls’ basketball team is continuing its season into the area round of the OSSAA Class B-II playoffs. LCS will take on Granite in the consolation round of the Area II tournament in Noble on Thursday.

It marks the first time in the history of the program that an Eagles basketball team has made it that far.

LCS has put together a 14-13 season in 2025-2026 under head coach Kristi Snyder.

The Lady Eagles won the district championship with a 51-38 victory over Boswell. It marked the first district title for Legacy Christian (formerly Victory Life Academy) since the boys’ team won one in 2008-2009 and the first for the girls since 2007-2008.

LCS fell to Pittsburg, 60-17, in the winners’ bracket of the regional tournament, but defeated Springer, 54-22, and then Tupelo, 44-40, to allow the season to continue and guarantee at least a .500 record for the year.

Riley Reese, athletic director for the Eagles, spoke about what this playoff run has meant for LCS.

“This is a huge win for our girls and not only our girls, but our school,” Reese said. “We have worked very hard over the last couple of years to get up to the standards that we want to meet, like the public schools. And to get our name out there is really great for us.

“The girls putting in the work and making history is a great way to do that. And to show up in the area tournament is wonderful for them and for our school.”

LCS will face Granite at Noble High School at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26.
