DURANT – On Vietnam Veterans Memorial Day, the City of Durant received a special honor.
The Military Order of the Purple Heart bestowed upon the city a special recognition award for the city’s support and honoring of those combat soldiers who have been wounded and all veteran in general.
The Patriot Members of the Ernest Childers Chapter of the Military Order of the Purple Heart gave a plaque to the city, which was received by Nancy Ferris. Ferris, director of the Three Valley Museum in Durant, was instrumental in reaching out to the Order to place Durant in consideration for this recognition.
