Durant Police Department Chaplain completes certification

DURANT –Congratulations to Chaplain Brent Smith on completing his International Conference of Police Chaplains (ICPC) certification!

Chaplain Smith received his certificate at the 2021 ICPC Annual Conference in Greenville, S.C. earlier this month.

During the five-day conference, Chaplain Smith took 14 specific, in-depth training courses on how to make a difference in the supportive role of Police Chaplain.

Topics of focus included Characteristics of Stress, Law Enforcement Funeral Protocols and Families – the Forgotten Piece of Law Enforcement.

Chaplain Smith was also given the opportunity to participate in a real live Memorial Ceremony for Fallen Officers, Internationally for 2020 and 2021. Many Local (Greenville, S.C.) and State (South Carolina) Law Enforcement were in attendance as South Carolina’s Attorney General delivered the message during the tribute.

Chaplain Smith has been in his role with Durant PD since August 2020 and is the Lead Pastor at LifeSong Nazarene Church in Durant.  He is also a retired police officer and current Durant PD Reserve.
