DURANT – Mayor Oden Grube has announced her departure from the Durant City Council. Grube has resigned from her position as mayor due to health reasons.

“I’m sad to resign, but I have to make my health a priority,” Grube said.

Grube, who was elected as the Ward 2 council member in 2017, became mayor in April 2019. She was the first female mayor of Durant.

She expressed gratitude to her constituents saying, “It has been a pleasure working with my fellow council members and to serve the citizens of Durant.”

Danny Sherrer, Vice Mayor, will serve as acting mayor. Following elections on April 4, the City Council will elect a new mayor on April 17.
