Durant man killed in accident south of Mead

BRYAN COUNTY – One person was killed in a multi-vehicle accident south of Mead on Friday evening.

Jack Redden, 48, of Durant, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet on Leavenworth Trail just north of Smiser Road approximately 3.7 south of Mead at the time of the accident, according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Redden was pronounced deceased on the scene with head, trunk internal, trunk external, arm and leg injuries.

The accident, which involved a collision with a 2013 Peterbilt, is still under investigation.

The airbag deployed, but the seat belt was not in use in the Chevrolet, according to the report.

The OHP was assisted in the investigation by the Bryan County EMS, Bryan County Sheriff’s Office, and Calera Fire Department.
