Durant man found dead in Lake Texoma on Friday morning

LAKE TEXOMA – A Durant man was found dead around 10 a.m. on Friday near Catfish Bay Marina.

Merle Noah Perkins, 62, was located floating between a 1985 Cruiser Vessel docked at Catfish Bay Marina Dock No. 4 and the slip, according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. His body was transported to Medical Examiner Office in Oklahoma City and the Medical Investigator was advised.

Perkins and others were drinking alcoholic beverages on the vessel docked at Catfish Bay Marina on Thursday, according to the report. At around 9 p.m., everyone went to bed except Perkins.

A safety flotation device was not in use.

The OHP Marine Enforcement Division was assisted in the investigation by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Park Rangers and Game Warden.
