SHAWNEE – Isie Cox went seven full innings and was 3-for-3 at the plate on Thursday, leading her team into the Class 5A fast-pitch state semifinals.
Durant grabbed an early 3-0 lead and never looked back, defeating Tahlequah, 11-2, in the state quarterfinal at the Ballfields at Firelake in Shawnee.
The Lady Lions put up 11 runs on 15 hits on the afternoon. Tristyn Hamilton drove in three RBIs, while Darika Douglas, Hannah Kaler and Jaci Phillips each had two RBIs.
Phillips was 3-for-4 on the day.
In the circle, Cox didn’t surrender a walk and struck out nine on her way to a complete game.
Durant moves on to play Carl Albert on Wednesday, Oct. 17, as the games have been postponed due to inclement weather.
