Dr. Stacy E. Weger, 59, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on the evening of Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021. Born in Jackson, Miss. in 1961, Stacy was a beloved son, brother, friend, uncle, and father. A gifted musician and esteemed professor, he touched the lives of thousands of students through music, serving as a high school choir director (Forest, Miss.), the musical director of the Austin Boys Choir, and Chair of Music, Director of Choral Activities, and Professor Emeritus at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
Stacy was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Allen Harrison Weger.
Survivors include his two daughters, Elizabeth Garster (Zachary) and Gretchen Weger of Kent, Ohio; his mother, Dolly Weger of Hattiesburg, Miss.; and four siblings: Allen Weger (Marion) of Gulfport, Miss., Tammy Mooneyham (Steven) of Saucier, Miss., Hans Weger (Sabrina) of Greensboro, Ga., and Christy Weger of Charlotte, N.C.
A private memorial gathering will be held for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Stacy’s life and legacy can make a memorial contribution to the Dr. Stacy Weger Memorial Fund at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
