Doyle Lee Maxey joined his loved ones in Heaven on Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018 at his home in Calera, Okla. at the age of 80 years old. Doyle was born to Ruben Lee Maxey and Flossie Gertrude (Trammel) Maxey on Sept. 1, 1938 in Farris, Okla. He married his wife Elizabeth Ann Burkhalter on Dec. 16, 1962 in Calera, Oklahoma where they spent 51 beautiful years together before her passing in 2014.
Doyle’s favorite pastime was dancing with Elizabeth and any place that played country music. He loved deer hunting and fishing. He loved to watch western movies, especially ones with John Wayne in them. Doyle loved spending time with his best friend Little Bit, and of course his children and grandkids. He enjoyed playing dominoes with anyone who would play. Doyle was also a member of the Calera Baptist Church in Calera, Okla.
Doyle is survived by his daughters: Cathey Reynolds of The Woodlands, Texas, and Karen Clay and husband Robert of Calera, Okla.; Sons: Charlie Maxey and wife Holley of Mead, Okla., Daughter-in-Law Lisa Maxey of Cartwright, Okla. and Todd Maxey and wife Linda of Calera, Okla.; Brothers: Joe Maxey Sr. of Atoka, Okla., Jarvis Maxey of Durant, Okla., and Houston Maxey of Fort Bragg, Calif.; Grandchildren: Libby Fournier and husband Andrew of Sierra Vista, Ariz., Josh Reynolds and wife Maurie of The Woodlands, Texas, Heather Clay of Calera, Okla., Aaron Clay and wife Kylie of Celina, Texas, Jessica Crank and husband Rusty of Durant, Okla., Zachary Maxey and wife Brandi of Calera, Okla., Colby Maxey and wife Weslina of Colbert, Okla., Krister Maxey and wife Ariel of Calera, Okla., Tiffany Williams of Bentley, Ark., Shelby Barrett of McAlester, Okla., Kylie Townsend and husband Josh of Hendrix, Okla., Alex Cravins and wife Mary of Alexander, Ark., Jason Coker of Durant, Okla., Aaron Coker of Calera, Okla., and Kevin Blackburn of Durant, Okla.,. Great-grandkids: Caleb Clay-Ellevold, Aubrey Williams, Dylan Williams, Easton Clay, Bella Clay, Josiah Fournier, Leeam Parker, Logan Crank, Barrett Crank, Creek Maxey, Raynger Maxey, Tedwin Maxey, Anzalee Maxey, Traveller Reynolds, Brooke Brasfield, Nathaniel Marshall, Trista Coker, Carter Blackburn and Emma Blackburn. Great-great grandkids: Briar Brassfield and Blair Brassfield.
Proceeded in death by his parents, Ruben Lee Maxey and Flossie Gertrude (Trammel) Maxey, wife Elizabeth Ann (Burkhalter) Maxey, son Tedwin Vance Maxey, brothers: Danny, Eldon “Judge”, Floyd, and Wesley Maxey, sister Linda Franks; and son-in-law, Tommy Reynolds.
Family hour will be Friday, Nov. 30, 2018 at Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. in Durant. A celebration of life will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Calera with Brother Jacob Toews officiating.
Interment will Follow at the Highland Cemetery in Durant with Floyd Maxey, Randy Townsend, Brad Hodge, Joe Maxey Jr., Steve White, Tim Newton, Cory Burkhalter, and Bryan Barton serving as pallbearers and Keiller Burkhalter, Jarvis Maxey, Jeff Burkhalter, and Harlan Joe Maxey as Honorary Pallbearers.
