Dorothy Williams

Dorothy Faye “Mommo” Williams a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021 at the age of 78. Dorothy was born to Johnny Bates and Juanita Kennon Bates on October 8, 1942 in Blue, Okla.

Dorothy worked as the scan coordinator for Homeland and Albertson for more than 25 years. For most of those 25 years she also worked at H&R Block as a tax preparer. In her younger years, Dorothy enjoyed racing motorcycles.

In 1980, her first grandchild was born, and she became Mommo, the name she was known by to virtually everyone. She loved to watch her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their sporting events and was their biggest fan. She enjoyed traveling all over and camping with her family in places all over the country. Recently her favorite place to travel was Branson, Mo. with her late husband Willard. Mommo worked her whole life to love and take care of everyone around her. Nothing and no one can replace her, and she will be greatly missed.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Debbie Williams of Grosse Pointe, Mich., Sandy Williams Chesnut and husband Robert of Durant, Okla., Peggy Pedraza of Durant, Okla., Tonya Williams of Oklahoma City, Okla,, and Jennifer Williams of Moore, Okla.; grandchildren, Steven Block, Jason Pedraza and wife Britney, Monica DeSpain, Gregory Block, Lynsee Gentry, Jessica Pedraza-Tullos and husband Brian, and Grant Knutson; great-grandchildren, Austin and Jackson Block, Edmund, Frederick, and Godfrey Pedraza, Evan and Brendan Polek, and Chase Gentry; great-great-grandchild, Emersyn Block; sisters, Sue Foster, Brenda Harlin and husband John Knox, Joan Powell and husband Allen, and Betty Gonzales; sister-in-law, Carolyn Bates; brother, James Bates and wife Shirley; along with numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Willard Templeton; late husband, Howard Williams; brothers, Charles Bates, Randy Switzer, and Ricky Switzer; parents, Johnny Bates and Juanita Switzer.

Services will be 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021 at Holmes Coffey Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Okla.
