Dorothy was born November 3, 1935 to Harvey and Catherine Hubbard in Tulsa, Okla. She passed away surrounded by her loved ones on April 14, 2023, at her residence in Durant, Okla. Dorothy attended school in Sapulpa and went on to college at what was known then as Oklahoma A&M. There she met the love of her life, Donald Wayne Seay.
They were married April 23, 1955 in Sapulpa. They moved to his family ranch East of Ryan and were married 46 years before his passing in 2001. She continued to live in Ryan until 2014 and moved to Featherstone Assisted Living (Durant). She made many wonderful friends including her caregiver, Sherry Speers, whom she loved like a daughter.
During Dorothy’s young married life, she lived on the ranch with her husband and their three sons. She was a homemaker, was involved in National Women’s Rural Electric Association, Oklahoma Mental Health Regional Board, Jefferson County Hospital Board, United Methodist Women, and the Senior Citizens Board. She was a member of Ryan United Methodist Church where she served as a board member, treasurer, and president of the local UMW
She also volunteered in many organizations such as 4-H, the County Jr. Livestock Show, Jefferson County Free-fair, and Jefferson County Home Extension. She enjoyed judging for the County Fairs in Jefferson, Stephens, and Cotton counties.
Dorothy had great joy in raising her three sons, helping to raise her grandchildren, and spending time with the Delloro twins. Dorothy was known as ‘Grandmother’ to all. She loved family and always had a wonderful outlook on life. Other hobbies she enjoyed were cooking, needlepoint, canning, playing her casino games, and reading.
Dorothy was preceded in death by both parents; beloved husband; oldest son, Jim and wife Dorotha and brother and sister-in-law, Hugh and Mary.
She is survived by her sons, Ken and wife Natalie and Greg and his wife Donna and her sister, Iola Malaby.She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Jamie Beth Arriola and husband Joe, Jana Brady and husband Cody, Amanda Delloro and husband Mike, Zane Seay and wife Isabella, Grayson Seay and wife Amber, Grant Gandy and wife Sarah, Brock Gandy and wife Brook. She cherished her 12 great-grandchildren: Cainan, Steel and Rip, Ally and Lexi, Carter, Emma and Granger, Olivia, Striker and Trey, and Bradley Davis.
She is also survived by her dear nieces and nephews; Elisa Schwartz, Becky and husband Ed Avila, Rick Schwartz, Megera Malaby, Adam and wife Tonya Malaby, and great nephews and niece; David and wife Melissa, Carina, Ben and Brian, Kelly, Hugh and Liam.
There will be a family night at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral home in Durant at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 and her memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at the Ryan Methodist Church.
Afterward, she will be laid to rest in the Ryan cemetery beside her husband.
