Dorothy Kellum

Dorothy (Calhoun) Kellum of Bennington, Okla., passed peacefully from this life on August 10, 2022. She was born December 3, 1929, in Sherman, Texas to William Everett and Pearl (Hall) Calhoun. Dorothy married her love, O.D. Kellum in Sherman, Texas on August 5, 1946.

Dorothy lived through the Great Depression. She took care of her home and her family. She enjoyed gardening and canning, as well as sewing, and crocheting. Dorothy was a member of the Midland Community Church in Bennington, Okla.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Regina Hartzell and husband Larry of Norman, Okla., Trudy Casino of Bennington, Okla., and Kathy Minyard and husband David of Bennington, Okla., and son Richard Kellum of Bennington, Okla. Her legacy lives on with her grandsons: Jimmy Minyard and wife Ann of Bennington, Okla., and Connor Hartzell of Norman, Okla., granddaughters: Dena Minyard of Bennington, Okla., and Sondra Butler and husband Kenny Mack of Bennington, Okla.; great-grandchildren: Ashlee Minyard, Harley Minyard, Wade Minyard, Colt Minyard, Kimberly Minyard, Regan Butler, Kutter Butler, Corey Brown and wife Makayla, and Hailey Ensey and husband Steven; great-great-granchildren: Shalee, Levi, Embery, Stiles, Aria, Rhett, Whitley, and Wylan; brothers: Joe Calhoun of Ardmore, Okla., and Don Calhoun of Wade, Okla., and sister, Brenda Phillips of Bokchito, Okla.

Preceding her in death are her parents, William and Pearl Calhoun; husband, O.D. Kellum; one infant son at birth; brothers: Dawson, Sonny, and Jimmy Calhoun, and sisters: Edith Heath, Norma Harris, and Linda Calhoun.

A funeral service for Dorothy was held on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at Midland Community Church in Bennington, Okla., with Brother Jay Perry officiating. Graveside service to follow at Bokchito Cemetery. Pallbearers are Wade Minyard, Colt Minyard, Kutter Butler, John Dillinger, Tommy Dillinger, and Todd Dillinger, with Bruce Calhoun and David Calhoun serving as honorary pallbearers.
