Dorene Treat left this life to begin her eternal life on June 22, 2019. She was born Mary Dorene Severs on May 1, 1935 in Neosho, Mo. and was the first of two children of Harold and Beulah Severs. She graduated from Neosho High School in 1953.
She grew up a part of First Baptist Church, Neosho and it was there that she met a soldier, Jack
Treat. She married Jack on July 2, 1955. Dorene lived in several places including Neosho, Mo.; Mount Vernon, Mo.; Oklahoma City, Okla.; Shreveport, La.; Joplin, Mo.; Savannah, Mo.; Moore, Okla,; Stillwater, Okla,; Stratford, Okla.; and Durant, Okla.
Upon relocating to Durant in 1989, Jack and Dorene started Texoma Janitorial Supply and joyfully ran this business, serving Durant and the surrounding area, until she retired in 2000.
Dorene was very active in various churches throughout her life, singing in the choir, teaching children in
Sunday school and Vacation Bible School, and teaching a young adult class with Jack at First Baptist Church, Durant. Dorene was a very loving person who enjoyed spending time with family and making scrapbooks for her grandchildren. She was involved with Gideon’s Auxiliary and went on mission trips to Russia and Mexico.
Dorene was preceded in death by her husband Jack Treat; father, Harold Severs; mother, Beulah
Severs; brother, Wayne Severs; and grandson, B.B. Treat.
She is survived by daughter Diana Tennison and husband Marvin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sons Curtis W. Treat and wife Candy of Jefferson City, Mo.; Kenny Treat and wife Sheila of Durant, Okla.; and Carl Treat and wife Shandi of Stillwater Okla.; grandchildren Paul Tennison of Nashville, Tenn.; Micah Tennison and wife Katie of Durant, Okla.; Caleb Treat and wife Marina of Joplin, Mo.; Joshua Tennison and wife Courtney of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Kendra Dobbins and husband Chance of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Mary Sanders and husband Johnny of Duncan, Okla.; Brandon Treat and girlfriend Jessica Cook of Durant, Okla.; and Hadlee Treat of Stillwater, Okla.; great-grandchildren Asher Tennison of Nashville, Tenn.; Audrey Dobbins of Colorado Springs, Colo.; Judah Tennison of Durant,
Okla.; and two on the way: baby Sanders of Duncan, Okla., September and baby Tennison of Durant, Okla., November. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Barbara Severs of Neosho, Mo. and Joyce Treat of Allen, Okla.; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Betty and Dale Chandler of Mustang, Okla.; and brother-in-law David Noblitt of Littleton, Colo.
Dorene lived a good life, wealthy in love. The people who knew and loved her are better because of her.
A celebration of her life will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Durant with Micah Tennison and Caleb Treat officiating. Her final resting place will be at the Highland
Cemetery in Durant with Marvin Tennison, Micah Tennison, Caleb Treat, Joshua Tennison and Johnny Sanders as her pallbearers. Paul Tennison and Chance Dobbins will be honorary pallbearers. Services are under the direction of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Okla.
The family respectfully request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in Dorene’s name to Gideon’s International.
