Donna Culbreath

Donna Lee Culbreath, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away from this earthly life on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020 at the age of 72 in Denison, Texas. Donna was born to Derrell and Aileen Bishop, on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1948 in Durant, Okla.

Donna married her loving husband J.D. Culbreath on January 28, 1966 in Durant, Okla. She was a proud Southeastern Oklahoma State University graduate, obtaining a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Education.

Donna was a dedicated Special Education Teacher for Silo Schools. She enjoyed singing, especially Christmas songs and hymns. Donna also enjoyed reading her Bible, reading for pleasure and planning and hosting special events for those she loved. Donna was an accomplished pianist and played every piano she came across. She especially enjoyed playing duets with her great-granddaughter. Her life of selfless service was shown by sharing the Good News in supporting mission work to the Spanish people in and around Durant as well as Bolivia and Nicaragua. She loved to hear and tell stories about her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They were her most prized possessions and joys of her life.

Donna is survived by her husband, J.D. Culbreath of the home; son, Jimmy Dale Culbreath Jr. and wife Deanna of Durant; daughter, Brande Leigh Serner and husband Allen of Calera; son, Owen Thomas Spencer Culbreath and wife Grace of Bay City, Texas; grandchildren: Amanda Audrey Lee of Calera, Luke Allen Serner and wife Aubree of Broken Arrow, Whitney Morgan Edwards of Oklahoma City, William Lee Edwards and wife Haley (Ashley) of Belle Meade, Tennessee, Terra Dalea Culbreath of Denison, Texas, Hayden Spencer, Quentin John, and Caroline Victoria Culbreath of Bay City, Texas; great-grandchildren: Harmony Kate, Spencer Allen, Scout James, Huck Archer and Stone Campbell Lee, all of Calera; brothers: Tommy Derrell Bishop of Mead, Okla., and James Steven Bishop and wife Miriam of Durant; sister, Janet Kay Corley and husband Jimmy of Guthrie, Okla.

In addition, she loved the family she acquired through marriage, Louise and Wayne McDonald, Alton and Pat Culbreath, Gladys and Mike Skinner and Randy and Marth Culbreath, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Derrell, and Aileen Bishop.

Funeral Services were held Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020, at the Durant Church of Christ family life building on 6th and Beech in Durant, Okla. with John Curtis and Dale Goad officiating with James Coats directing singing.
