Donald has lived in Bryan County most of his life. He worked as a laborer in the manufacturing industry. He was saved and baptized on April 16, 1950 at Bacon Spring Baptist Church and was ordained as a deacon on Sept. 30, 1950. He was a charter member of Grace Indian Baptist Church and a proud member of the Choctaw Nation. Donald deeply loved his Lord and Savior and he enjoyed fishing, playing his harmonica, listening to gospel music and attending church.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Lucille Gibson; sons, Clifford Ray and Ronald Dewayne; infant brother, Billy Joe; granddaughter, Mindi Brock and the mother of his children, Dessie Mae Hernandez.
Donald is survived by his sisters, Rose LeFlore, Ella Buck and Edna Taylor; daughters, Carolyn Vazquez and husband Miguel, Mildred Louise Taylor and Vicki Lechtenberg and husband Tate; grandchildren, Jason Gibson, Lela Diaz, Tony Gibson, Brian Trevino, Jeremy McCain, Kayla Davis, Clifford Ray Gibson Jr. and Penny Bechthold; 20 great-grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2019 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel. Pastor Wayne Bailey will officiate. Interment will follow in Rosewood Cemetery in Achille with Jason LeFlore, Jason Gibson, Tony Gibson, Jeremy McCain, Brian Trevino, Micah Gibson, Cliff Gibson and Jordan Gibson serving as pallbearers.
Arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Durant Funeral and Cremation Service.
