TALIHINA, Okla. – The Choctaw Nation Diabetes Wellness Center is accredited again by the nation’s leading quality assurance reviewer and this time joins the list of Centers of Excellence.
On May 10, the Talihina facility was visited by a representative from the Joint Commission, a nonprofit organization that accredits more than 21,000 U.S. health care programs, as well as medical services around the world. The Choctaw program passed with a perfect score.
“We spent the day with a surveyor reviewing all information, as well as touring our clinic,” said Tammie Cannady, Chief of Preventive Health Services for the Choctaw Nation. “The surveyor could find no quality or safety issues.”
The center in Talihina has always been accredited by the Joint Commission, meeting outstanding performance standards. However, the latest review places it among the Centers of Excellence.
The Choctaw Nation Diabetes Wellness Center, located at 1 Choctaw Way, Talihina, offers a variety of programs for tribal members to help prevent and cope with diabetes. For information, phone (800) 349-7026 or visit www.choctawnation.com/DiabetesWellnessCenter.
