Dennis Starbuck, a resident of Durant, Okla. and veteran of the United States Navy, passed from this earthly life on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2019 at the age of 76. He was born in Waynoka, Okla. to Roy Starbuck and wife Clara Starbuck on April 27, 1943.
Dennis proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was employed as the Director of Maintenance and Transportation for The LA Unified School District of Downey and Bellflower. Dennis was a member of the Durant and Bokchito Masonic Lodge and a graduate of the Durant Police Department Citizens’ Police Academy.
He loved the roar of a Harley Davidson and the smell of lean gas. He was an expert marksman that enjoyed hunting and camping outdoors, the quiet solitude of fishing, as well as traveling to see new places. Dennis had a way with cars and especially enjoyed restoring classics bringing them back to on road condition. He was just as quick to take on a new contracting job as he was to pick up a broken lawnmower or a washer and dryer that needed to be repaired. If he had the ability to help, he was always just a call away. Above all was his unsurpassed love for family and friends.
Mr. Starbuck is survived by his son, Dennis “DJ” Starbuck of Loveland, Colo.; daughters, Alicia Willestyn of Denison, Texas and Laura Lawlor of Mohegan Lake, N.Y.; sister, Carolyn Rogers of Trimble, Mo.; and grandchildren: Hailee Willemstyn of Murrieta, Calif., Wyatt Willemstyn of Murrieta, Calif., Aubree Willemstyn of Denison, Texas, Logan Thompson of Mohegan Lake, N.Y. and Leandra Thompson of Mohegan Lake, N.Y.
