Debby Kay (Pratt) Good passed from this life on June 2, 2024, in Durant, Okla., surrounded by her daughter-in-law and granddaughter holding her hand. Debby was born on December 1, 1949, in Fond du Lac, Wisc., to Don and Elaine Pratt.
She was blessed with a large family, having two older sisters, two younger sisters, and one brother. The Pratt family moved to Southern California, where they settled in Orange County. In 1966, Debby met Alvin Good, the love of her life, and they were married on February 11, 1967. They shared 53 wonderful years together until Alvin’s passing in January 2024. The couple made their home in Riverside, Calif., and were blessed with two sons: George, born in 1969, and Heath, born in 1973. After Alvin completed college, they moved to Maricopa, Calif., and later to Taft, Calif., where they lived until retirement. The last 20 years of Debby’s life were spent in Caddo, Okla., where she and Alvin enjoyed their time together.
Debby loved being outdoors, tending to her flower planters, and maintaining a beautiful garden. Her dedication to her garden earned her several “Yard of the Month” awards in Caddo. As the matriarch of her family, she cherished family gatherings, especially Christmas, when she delighted in cooking and giving presents to all the kids. Every holiday or long weekend, her home was filled with family and friends, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Debby was a vibrant and caring presence in her community. She was often seen speeding around town in her beloved 1970 red Corvette. Known as the neighborhood mom, she treated every child who walked through her door as one of her own, whether it was a firm but loving slap to the back of the head or a sympathetic ear for their troubles. She was always there for her family and friends, teaching children to swim with a no-nonsense approach that left lasting memories. Debby enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, Kristina, Brittany, and Aarron, imparting life’s lessons and later doting on her seven great-grandchildren.
After Alvin’s passing, Debby’s health declined. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Brenda Good for selflessly caring for Debby over the past seven months. Special thanks also go to Olga and Lupe Pinon for their love, compassion, and unwavering friendship during Debby’s final months.
Debby is preceded in death by her parents, Don and Elaine Pratt; her sisters: Sharon Nash, Barbara Crosby, Donna Pratt; and her brother Danny Pratt.
She is survived by her sister, Becky Harris of Spokane, Wash.; her sons, George Good of Knoxville, Tenn., and Heath Good and his wife Brenda of Williston, N.D.; her grandchildren: Kristina Good of South Bend, Ind., Brittany Good of Caddo, Okla., and Aarron Good of Williston, N.D., as well as her great-grandchildren: Fabin, Bella, Elaine, Carmelo, Emery, Aislinn, and Everett, along with numerous family members and friends who cherished her.
Debby’s warmth, generosity, and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
