David Short, Sr., of Calera, Okla., passed from this life on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at the age of 73. He was born on Friday, July 8, 1949 in Littlefield, Texas to Virgil Henry and Lorene (McAlester) Short. 
He married Linda Kay (Boehme) Short on January 1, 1993 in Calera and was a lifelong resident of Calera.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, piddling and spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil Henry and Lorene (McAlester) Short.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Kay (Boehme) Short of the home; sons: David Short, Jr. and wife Rhonda of Calera, Okla., Delvin Short and wife Elaine of Calera, Okla.; step-daughter, Aundrea Thompson of Caddo, Okla.; step-son, Chad Morris of Caddo, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Dustin, Josh, Tyler, Summer, Desiree, Miranda, Trinity; brothers, Kenny Short of Ada, Okla.; sisters, Galetta Lamar of Durant, Okla., Debbie Wright of Durant, Okla., Annette Loyd of Durant, Okla., Jan McCarty of Durant, Okla., as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.
A family visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Gordon Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 26, 2022, at the Monterey Chapel, 224 S. Ninth Ave. in Durant with Chaplin David Kuatt officiating.
A graveside service will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera, Oklahoma. Dustin Childers, Josh Childers and Tyler Childers will serve as pallbearers. Wayne Trent, Jim Hurkey and Dwight Robinson will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family would like to thank Alyssa, Shawna and Markita with Elara Hospice for being such a blessing during these difficult times.
