David Allen Odom was born Monday, Nov. 29,1954 in Decatur, Ala. He is the son of Jim and Martha Odom. He passed from this life on Monday, Feb. 7, 2022 in Durant, Okla., at the age of 67.
David attended school in Blue, Okla. He married Deborah (Ward) Potts and they enjoyed 32 years together. David was a Christian, putting his faith in the Lord and was baptized in May 2021. He worked for Indian Nation Wholesale in Durant for 16 years.
David loved his wife and family all the way to the end. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and working with animals in his younger years. He was a jokester and never passed up a good prank. He served in the Navy and was a loyal Dallas Cowboy fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Smith; brothers, Ray Smith, Donnie Smith, Sidney Odom and great granddaughter, Ashii K. Wilson.
David is survived by his wife, Debbie, of the home; daughter, Heather Chloupek, Durant, Okla.; daughter, Dana Hagans and husband Kurt of Oklahoma City, Okla.; son, Cody Odom and wife Sarah of Durant, Okla.; daughter, Tamara Ogden of Durant, Okla.; son, Joey Hobbs and wife Sheila of Stratford, Okla.; son, Steven Potts and wife Amy of Durant, Okla.; 20 grandkids and 10 great-grandkids; brother, Jim Odom and wife Janet of Denison, Texas; sister, Melanie Odom-Artabazon and husband Ralph of Durant, Okla.; sister, Carol Lewis of Durant, Okla.; sister, Brenda Smith of Alabama and sister, Sherry Smith of Alabama, along with many nieces, nephews and others that he considered family.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 11, 2022, at Rosehill Cemetery in Calera, Okla., with Steve Roper officiating.
