Darlene Ellis

Darlene Ellis, of Durant, Okla., passed from this life on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at the age of 84. She was born on Friday, Oct. 23, 1936 in Utica, Okla., to Ollie Marion and Gladys Louise (Conditt) Robinson.
She married Marvin Lee Ellis on October 16, 1954 in Durant.

She was a longtime resident of Durant, Okla. She enjoyed watching girls basketball, OU and Dallas Cowboys football, working crossword puzzles and reading the Bible. It made her happy to cook and take care of her family as she always put her family above herself. She was a member of the Calera Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ollie Marion and Gladys Louise (Conditt) Robinson; husband, Marvin Ellis in 2013 and a brother, Junior Robinson.

Survivors include her sons: Randol “Randy” Ellis and wife Betty of Calera, Okla., Doyle Ellis and wife Gayle of Silo, Okla.; daughters: Debbie Weaver and husband Roy of Durant, Okla., Brenda Calhoun and husband Michael of Van, Texas; brothers: Louis Robinson of Durant, Okla., David Robinson and wife Sandra of Durant, Okla.; sisters: Fran Elrod of Lone Grove, Okla., Marie Mora and husband Eddie of Center, Texas, Alice French and husband Phillip of Colbert, Okla., Rita Satterfield and husband Steve of Bokchito, Okla.; grandchildren: Karleen Wingfield and husband Geoff, Kathleen Wingfield, Josh Stanley, Rebecca Rucker and husband Corey, Liz Kellam, Jerad Kellum and wife Kerri, Brandon Prough and wife Tonya, Jason Weaver and wife Lela, Cassandra Weaver, Beth Davis and husband Cole, Joseph Calhoun and wife Lakyn, Megan Jackson and husband Judd as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other extended family.

A family hour will be held from 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Gordon Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at the First Baptist Church in Calera, Okla. with Bro. Michael Calhoun officiating. A graveside committal service will follow at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Calera. Jason Weaver, Brandon Prough, Josh Stanley, Jared Kellam, Corey Rucker, Judd Jackson will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer is Joseph Calhoun.
