Dannie Daniel

Dannie Daniel, of Roberta, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2024, in Denison, Texas, at the age of 70. He was born on June 9, 1953, in Durant, Oklahoma to Arthur Leon and Naomi (Bond) Daniel. Dannie grew up to be a pillar of his community, touching the lives of all who knew him with his creativity and kind-hearted spirit.

Professionally, Dannie was a skilled carpenter, known for both his new construction projects and meticulous repair work. His commitment to service was evident through his involvement with the Roberta Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, played the bass guitar, and rang the bell with a joyful heart. His dedication to helping others was further demonstrated by his 11 years as a volunteer firefighter and his 3-year tenure as a board member for the Roberta Fire Department.

Dannie was also a proud member of the Albany Masonic Lodge and contributed his time and efforts to the Bryan Baptist Disaster Relief Team. His work with these organizations showcased his unwavering commitment to his neighbors and the betterment of his community.

Beyond his service, Dannie found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was often found enjoying a cup of coffee with his “Drinking Buddies,” a group that will sorely miss his camaraderie and laughter. Dannie was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time listening to Sherry read good books. His musical talents were not limited to his church performances; he loved playing his guitar, a pastime that brought harmony to both his life and the lives of those around him.

Travel was another of Dannie’s passions. He embarked on road trips that created lasting memories with his family and friends. His presence was a staple at his grandchildren’s activities, where he could be found cheering them on with pride and enthusiasm.

Dannie’s life was marked by his devotion to his family and his faith. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Sherry Daniel, of the Roberta home. His legacy continues through his daughter, Samantha Dellinger and husband John of Roberta, Oklahoma, and his son, Andy Daniel and wife Lydia of Roberta, Oklahoma. Dannie was a cherished grandfather to Kaycee Williams of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Ashlee Williams, Zachary Daniel, Jacob Daniel, Corbyn Daniel, Skylar Dellinger, Joslyn Dellinger, and Tristan Dellinger, all of Roberta. His great-grandchildren, Bracelyn Bilbay, Kyson Dellinger, Kountry St. John, Shaylie St. John, and Daniel Covington will miss his gentle guidance and warm embrace. He is also survived by his caring sister, Cathy Loyd of Roberta. Dannie was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Karen Daniel.

The family will receive visitors at his Family Hour from 3-4 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at the Roberta Baptist Church. A memorial service will be held to honor Dannie’s life at 10 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2024, at Roberta Baptist Church with Brother Mike Wingfield officiating.

Those serving as honorary pallbearers are Zachary Daniel, Jacob Daniel, Corbyn Daniel, Mark Shepard, Mike Wingfield, Gary Wingfield, Dennis Pena, Bobby Shepard, and Billy Cloud.
