Cumi Jennifer Brown

Cumi Jennifer Brown was born Tuesday, January 15, 1935 in Sardis, Okla., to the late C.L. “Pinch” Standefer and Verna (O’Neal) Standefer. She passed from this life on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022 at her home in Silo, Okla. at the age of 87.

Jennifer grew up in the Sardis community at a young age. She married Jeff Brown on March 24, 1951 in Hugo, Okla. Together, they began their family and started their life in ranching. In 1976, they moved to Silo and continued their cattle business until Jeff’s death. Jennifer worked as a beautician for 15 years and was a homemaker most of her life. She and Jeff were very involved in the Sam’s Camping Club and were members of the Caddo Presbyterian Church. Jennifer enjoyed sewing, cooking and baking, and deeply loved being with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jeff, on Oct. 15, 2020; sister, Virginia Williams and infant sister, Rosa Mae Standefer; son-in-law, Burl Burkett; brother-in-law, Pat Brown; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Goforth.

Jennifer is survived by her loving family; daughter, Carla Brown Burkett; son, Jeffrey Brown and wife, Sharon, and David Rowe; grandchildren, Ryan Wickersham, Darren Wickersham, Sharleen Rezner and husband, Jeremy, Erin Rowe and Judson Rowe; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Lahoma VanderWagen; brother, Donald Standefer and wife, Suzanne; brother, Danny Standefer; and sister, Nancy Garza and husband, Phil; along with many extended family and good friends.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 31, 2022, at the Highland Cemetery pavilion in Durant with Pastor Sammie Adams officiating. Jennifer will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Jeff. Casket bearers will be Ryan Wickersham, Darren Wickersham, Jeremy Rezner, Jackson Rezner, Lucas Rezner, Dylan Wickersham and Mason Wickersham.

Viewing hours will be from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 30, and from 8 a.m.-noon on Monday, Jan. 31, at Brown’s Funeral Home in Durant.

Services are under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service, Durant.
