Corbett Potter, 60, of Mead, Okla., passed away suddenly on the evening of Thursday, July 25, 2024. He was born to parents Herman and Willie Potter in Bell Flower, Calif., on September 21, 1963.
Corbett was a dynamic and talented musician with unmatched passion for his craft. He spent much of his busy life traveling to gigs and playing with the best musicians out there. He proudly obtained endorsements from LosCabos Drumsticks and Saluda Cymbols. He entertained thousands at countless venues and his beloved church. While drums were his passion, his true gift was imparting wisdom and knowledge to other musicians, new and seasoned.
After graduating from Independence University, he began his career in Respiratory Therapy where he touched the lives of countless patients and co-workers. He lived a full life, teaching us all how to balance family, work, and play. He was an unforgettable presence and will be missed by so many friends and family members. We are completely unprepared for this unexpected loss and miss him greatly. Anyone that knew Corbett would first say he was a great musician, followed by an amazing friend, mentor, and witness. He loved his wife and daughters imparting to them the tenacity in which he daily lived his life.
Corbett is survived by his wife, Jessica Potter; daughters: Allisyn Potter, Alyssa Duro and husband Nate, Brooke Minges, and Lauren Karis Potter; brother, James Potter; grandsons: Hawkan Haakanson, Hunter Haakanson, Bane Duro, and Brock Duro and numerous extended family and friends.
Services to celebrate Corbett’s amazing life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Victory Life Church in Atoka, Okla. Pastor Lee Armstrong will officiate.
The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home in Durant on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a fund has been established at First United Bank in the name of Jessica Potter to assist with final expenses.
Arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Durant Funeral and Cremation Service.
