Connie Gayle Tolleson, of Colbert, Okla., was welcomed at the pearly gates of Heaven to join her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 24, 2024 surrounded by her family at the age of 77.
Connie was born on September 28, 1946 to Elvis and Gena Weger in Denison, Texas and was the oldest of their four children. From the very beginning, Connie’s kind yet firm demeanor meant she had a knack for “guiding” those around her, and was as much a motherly figure to her siblings as she was a sister. That nurturing quality is something she carried through the rest of her life, always ready to give advice at any juncture.
It was a happy day in February 1960 when she met a young man who had just moved to the then small town of Lewisville, Texas, named John (Monty) Tolleson. Ever the efficient individual, Connie decided her first boyfriend would also be her last; she married the love of her life on June 9, 1967. The two lived most of their lives in Lewisville until 2010, when they left the city for a quiet life in Colbert, Oklahoma.
Connie believed family was everything and devoted her life to caring for them in every way possible, a blessing truly beyond measure. Those lucky enough to have known her may remember her fondness for anything sweet, her need for speed in her corvette, her creative flare when it came to decorating, and most notably of all, her ability to see the world in a way that was totally her own.
Connie is preceded in death by her father, Elvis in 1985; her mother, Gena in 2010; brother Nicky in 1968; and brother Jerry in 1972.
She is survived by her husband, Monty; daughter, Nicki (Dee Dee) and husband Roy Nelson of Sanger, Texas; two grandsons: Monty Maisano of San Francisco, Calif. and Colton Nelson of Sanger, Texas; sister, Janie and husband Ronny Grissom of Cross Roads, Texas; nephews: John and wife Jeni Grissom and Craig and wife Shelley Grissom both of Cross Roads, Texas; and nieces Connie Weathers of Tulsa, Okla., Kristy Gilbert of Flower Mound, Texas and Lesa Burns of Greenville, Texas.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at the Colbert Cemetery and Coleman Avenue Church of Christ.
Arrangements entrusted to Cunningham Funeral Home in Colbert, Okla.
