Clede Bond passed peacefully from this life into the arms of his Savior on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at the age of 83 in his home in Durant, Okla.. He was born in Durant on December 7, 1939, to Clede S. Bond and Helen (Miller) Bond.

Clede was a business owner, insurance agent and worked several positions in the propane business. He also found great pleasure in working with his hands. A hard-working man and avid outdoorsman, Clede enjoyed cutting wood, bailing hay, picking up pecans, shooting guns, working on cars, building and remodeling houses and was a skilled handyman able to repair just about anything. However, his true passion was crafting wooden crosses. From necklaces and keychains to wall hangings, the symbol of the cross represented the sacrifice of Clede’s Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. One of Clede’s most precious handcrafted crosses hangs in the baptistry of his beloved Fairview Baptist Church. After Clede accepted the Lord as his Savior fifteen years ago, he was never ashamed to share the gospel of Christ.

A fun-loving man, joking, telling tall tales, yodeling, arm wrestling and a good game of “Washers” were some of his hidden talents. Clede was well known for being a successful stock car driver. You could always find him on the weekend at an area dirt track driving his red Ford, #99.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis Bond, daughter Tracy Crone and husband Alan, daughter Tammy Bond, son Brian Bond and wife Tascha and daughter Teri Beth Reeves and husband Aaron. He is also survived by grandchildren Logan Sharp, Callie Crone, Hailey Bond, Cade Crone, Gentry Bond, Jett Reeves, Pryce Reeves and Axton Reeves, bonus granddaughter Kirstin Turner and great-granddaughter Brynne Geter.
