Chuck Shelton

Victor Charles “Chuck” Shelton of Durant, entered eternal rest on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020 at the age of 72. He was born on Sept. 1, 1947 in Madera, Calif. to Fred Lee Shelton and Victoria Sandez.

Chuck graduated from Madera High School and married the love of his life Beverly Thompson on July 17, 1971. The couple shared more than 48 years together and raised four children. In 1978, the family made Bryan County their home. Chuck served our country in the United States Air Force from 1967-1978 receiving numerous commendations and working as a K-9 Handler.

He was a member of the Little Dixie Bass Club and Silo Baptist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and listening to music.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Victoria Shelton; sisters, Patricia Hernandez and Diane Rutledge; and grandchild, Noelia Shelton.

Survivors include his loving wife of the home Beverly Shelton; two sons, Matthew Shelton and wife Bilita of Lytle, Texas, Mark Shelton and wife Shauna of Durant, Okla.; two daughters, Michelle Justus and husband Richard of Durant, Okla., Meagan Shelton and fiancé Adam Latham of Grand Prairie, Texas; five grandchildren: Jared, Layne, John, and Emma Shelton and Abigail Justus; one great-grandchild, Opal Shelton; two brothers, Tony Shelton of Carrollton, Texas and Mike Shelton of Colbert, Okla. along with other extended family members and dear friends.

Services to honor Chuck’s life will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2020 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel in Durant with Dr. Ray Earley officiating. Serving as honorary pallbearers are John Lyons, Scott Burkett, Jimmy Brewer, Roger King, John Bullard, Bobby Blades, Dr. Braulio Manuel Cuesta, and Gary Newman. The family will accept friends Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Durant Funeral and Cremation Service.
