Chris Uhlenhake, 66, of Purcell, Okla., passed away Sunday, Oct. 3, 2021. Chris J. Uhlenhake was born Dec. 5, 1954 in Kingfisher, Okla., the second of four children born to Jim and Ramona (Garms) Uhlenhake.
He was raised in Norman and attended school there, graduating the Tigers’ Class of 1973. Chris began working in construction, and spent a little time in the oil field, before taking a job with International Paper in the lumber industry. He married Gayla Russell, and they welcomed two children: daughter, Amanda and son, Scott.
Chris worked for many years for the Weyerhaeuser Company at their Oklahoma City yard, as Operations Supervisor. He returned to Oil Field and worked for B & R Pump before retiring. Chris was a hard worker and a great provider for his kids.
He was never happier than the day he became a Papa to Tate, Hannah and Ainsley. When he wasn’t working, you would find Chris doing what he loved. He was an avid gunman and participated in many clay shooting events. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, telling jokes with his granddaughters and looked forward to family time at the lake. He was a wonderful son, father and Papa, who loved his family very much. He had a smile that could light up any room and a personality to match. Chris will be dearly missed!
He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Uhlenhake and brother, Jon Uhlenhake.
Chris is survived by his mother, Ramona Uhlenhake of Norman, Okla.; daughter, Amanda Uhlenhake of Purcell, Okla.; son, Scott Uhlenhake and wife Hope of Kingston, Okla.; sister, Rita Uhlenhake of Norman, Okla.; brother, Max Uhlenhake and wife Sam of Noble, Okla.; his pride and joy – granddaughters: Tate, Hannah and Ainsley, and a host of other family and friends.
