DURANT – A year of hard work and dependability by the Choctaw Nation Tourism Department has paid off with recognition from the Durant Area Chamber of Commerce.
Choctaw Tourism received the Community Partnership Award at the Durant chamber’s annual banquet held Jan. 19. A number of presentations were made at the sold-out event.
“This is not an award we give every year,” said Janet Reed, executive director of the chamber. “But, in 2018 the Choctaw Nation went above-and-beyond in helping us. We felt it was well deserved.”
Erin McDaniel, director of Choctaw Tourism, explained how her department teamed up with the chamber.
“CNO Tourism worked with Durant to share best practices, advertising and promotion opportunities, strategic planning, etc. CNO Tourism also partners with the Durant chamber annually on the Magnolia Festival and Magnolia Festival Christmas,” McDaniel said.
“In 2019, Choctaw Tourism plans on continuing its partnerships with communities across southeast Oklahoma and will be choosing an additional five attractions to partner with to develop them further. We will continue our marketing efforts, including focusing on the Dallas-Fort Worth area.”
