DURANT – The Choctaw Nation Health Services Authority is moving forward with its plan to provide the COVID-19 vaccine to more tribal members. Beginning January 25, 2021, the third tier will be eligible to make an appointment for vaccination.
Tier 3 eligibility requirements include the following:
Individuals who were eligible in the first two tiers continue to be offered appointments to receive the vaccine. These include: Choctaw and other CDIB elders (age 60+), teachers and healthcare workers who are CDIB cardholders with proof of employment (a school badge or paystub).
“Due to limited vaccine supply, we are focused on initially providing the vaccine to CDIB cardholders,” said Todd Hallmark, Executive Officer of Health. “We understand the need for non-cardholders to get their vaccination and encourage families to watch the Oklahoma State guidelines for more information.”
In addition to the clinics, the Diabetes Wellness Center (DWC) in Talihina will begin offering the vaccine to their eligible patients during scheduled appointment times beginning January 26, 2021.
“Being able to offer the COVID-19 vaccination to our diabetes patients during their visits to the DWC will bring an additional level of comfort and convenience to a vulnerable population,” said Tamela Cannady, Director of Preventive Health.
