Cheryl Kay Washington

Cheryl Kay Washington of Calera, Okla. passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018 in Oklahoma City, Okla. at the age of 60. Cheryl was born on March 9, 1958 in Fort Chaffee, Ark. to Billy Wayne James and Hattie Ruth Pistubee.

Cheryl married Leo Washington on August 7, 1981 in Miami, Okla. and they moved to Calera in 1987 after she graduated from nursing school. Cheryl was Director of Nurses at Carrus Specialty Hospital in Sherman and House Supervisor at TMC until her retirement. She was a devoted nurse who showed compassion and touched the lives of everyone she worked with and the patients she took care of. Cheryl dearly loved her family and she enjoyed vacationing with her children and grandchildren, camping and playing jokes and pranks on everyone. Cheryl loved Mickey Mouse and in her honor please wear Mickey Mouse or black and red to her service.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her mother and father; grandson, Samuel Washington and beloved dog, Sugar Bear.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Leo Washington; mom, Gertie James; children, Sonya Chitty and domestic partner Taylor Shields, Trina Chitty and husband Walter, Leo Washington and wife Jessica, James Washington, Cherie Dewitt, Jon Washington and wife Dayla, Stuart Washington and Joey Robinson and wife Terri; grandchildren, Brandon Washington, Jacob Washington, Samuel Washington, Michael Chitty, Mikaka Johnson, Elvell Johnson, Darrien Robinson, Kadien Robinson, Josh Washington, Brooke Washington, Sofia Washington, Kenley Washington, Caleb Washington, Sabrina DeWitt, Sagen DeWitt, Kyre Hopson and Brittany Posey; one great granddaughter to be, Dahlia Kay Saige; siblings, Lisa Wolbert,Derrell James, David james ;along with nephew, Jacob James and niece, Lex Johnson and many other family members who sought her advice and whom she loved wholeheartedly.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018 at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Virginia Espinoza officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery with Joey Robinson, Dakota Ussery, Elvell Johnson, Jake James, Walter Brister and Taylor Shields serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Caleb Washington, Kadien Robinson, Melissa Whiteside and Evan Whiteside.
