Cecille Kamplain

Cecille Kampplain of Durant, passed away peacefully on October 30, in Calera, Okla. Born on March 4, 1954, at The Haynie Clinic to Cecil Lee and Mary Ella (Lankford) Maze.

She is survived by her daughter, Kim Kampplain of Durant, and granddog, Ella Bella of Durant both of whom she loved deeply. She also was a wonderful mom to many of Kim’s schoolmates and friends.

Cecille additionally made many long-standing friendships through her work life: Her 40-year career in retail began in 1976 with the Durant Kmart. She served as the Durant assistant manager until it closed in 1994 and then made the commute each day to the Sherman, Texas location. She was recruited by the Durant Walmart in 1997 and began her career in Personnel. In 2002 she helped open the Durant Super Center. In 2016, she began her journey into retirement.

Through the years, Cecille enjoyed being a member of various organizations: Durant Business and Professional Womens Club. The Durant Jay-Cees, a Board member of Bryan County RSVP, member of Gama Psi/Beta Sigma Phi sorority, Bryan County Master Gardener, and also served as secretary for Hickory Hollow Rod and Gun Club.

In her personal life, Cecille enjoyed quilting. Ironically she did not start quilting until later in life. However, she more than made up for the years she was late getting started. Her wheels were always turning with something creative in mind, and her hands quickly put that thought into action with fabrics of so many colors and shapes. Her creativity also went into landscaping with various plants and flowers. Cecille was fond of traveling to a new location each year. She loved OU Sooner football games. She enjoyed cooking and made THE BEST fried chicken.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Cecil Lee Maze and Mary Ella (Lankford) Maze, and her brother, David Lee Maze.
