One woman was flown to Oklahoma City as a result of injuries suffered from a one-car accident approximately four miles west of U.S. Highway 69/75 in Atoka County near midnight on Wednesday.

Bronwyn Cooper, 36 of Caddo, was driving a Dodge Charger westbound on Voca Road when the vehicle departed the roadway to the left, according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. The Charger struck the ditch and continued through two fences and some trees, causing it to overturn 3 1/2 times before coming to a rest on its top.

Cooper was pinned for approximately 15 minutes and extricated by Caney Volunteer Fire Department. She was transported by Air E-Vac to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City and admitted in guarded condition with head, arm, leg, internal and external trunk injuries.

One passenger, Jamie Chapman, 38 of Crown City, Ohio, was transported by Atoka County EMS to Alliance Health Center in Durant and admitted in stable condition with head and arm injuries.

The cause of the accident was driving at an unsafe speed and there was an odor of alcoholic beverage on the driver, according to the report. Both seatbelts were in use and the airbags did deploy.

The OHP was assisted in the investigation by the Atoka County Sheriff’s Office, Atoka County EMS, Caney Volunteer Fire Department, and Air E-Vac.
