CADDO – It’s rodeo time again.
The annual Caddo Roundup Club Rodeo will take place this weekend at the Caddo Rodeo Grounds.
The activities start each night at 8 p.m. Sandra Krebbs, secretary of the Roundup Club, spoke about some the events of the weekend.
“It’s our 48th annual Roundup Cub Rodeo,” Krebbs said. “We have a parade at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning with the lineup at 9 a.m. at the school.
“And on Saturday night, we will crown our queen and do the drawing for $1,500 from the tickets she’s been selling. We have a dance following, that Donnie Hyde from Pearl Snap Entertainment is going to D.J. for us.”
Macie Stone is the queen candidate this year for the rodeo. Stone, who will be a freshman this year at Caddo High School, has been out and about with tickets for the rodeo and those chances to win.
The prize for the selling the most tickets?
“As queen, you get to represent the Caddo Round Up Club for the year,” Stone said.
She said she would feel blessed if she were to win, and she has a pretty good chance of doing just that – because she is the only candidate. But now the competition is within, as she is trying to set the record for the most sales.
Krebbs said that number, as far back as she can remember, is $8,700. Stone will be selling tickets through Saturday morning trying to beat that amount.
Among the events each evening at the rodeo will be bull riding, team roping, barrel racing, steer wrestling and more. Krebbs said there will be concession stands, vendors, a snow cone stand, a mechanical bull for the kids to ride on and a couple of tack vendors.
Admission at the gate is $10 for ages 12 and older, $5 for ages 5-11 and admission is free for those younger than 5 years old.
