Caddo Community Association sponsored a banquet for senior citizens on Saturday, June 4, at the Caddo Church of the Nazarene.  The annual event, called the 80s and 90s Banquet has been a part of the CCA calendar for two decades.  It is set for the first Saturday of June, open to any person 80 years old or older, with ties to Caddo.

This year, CCA enlisted the help of each of the five churches, to join their efforts to produce this worthwhile event. The project was a success, with 30 honorees and their guests, and about a dozen volunteers attending.
Guests were greeted at the door, and a corsage was presented to each honoree. Decorations, with vintage farm equipment and flowers, illustrated the theme “Cultivating memories and Friendships.”  The catered meal was provided by CCA.
The emcee for the evening was former Caddo teacher, Bennie Green. He began the program with a brief introduction of each honoree, followed by a singalong, led by Ms. Sammy Adams. The emcee then interviewed the three 90-year-old honorees, and the traditional group photo was taken, before the goodbyes were said.
Honorees look forward to this event, each year, to visit with old and new friends. CCA gratefully acknowledges the many  volunteers who worked to make this event possible.
The next community event, to celebrate Caddo’s 150 years of history, will be July 2nd, at Caddo’s downtown pavilion, from 10 a.m to 2 p.m.The public is invited to this free event, including Sesquicentennial formalities, dancers, musicians, a magic act, and food trucks.  Seating is limited, so all are urged to bring a lawn chair. Contents of a 1972 time capsule will also be displayed for viewing, across the street at the Rock Community building.
