Bud Amlin

C.W. “Bud” Amlin of Mead, Okla., passed from this life on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at the age of 95. He was born on Wednesday, March 6, 1929, in Pasadena, Calif., to John Harvey and Vina Ruth (Boyles) Amlin.

He married Patsy Janelle (Pace) Amlin on October 19, 1949 in Wichita, Texas. They spent 68 loving years together up until her passing. He was a proud member of the U.S. Army and served in Korea. In 1954, he moved from California to Bryan County, Okla. He was baptized in 1957 and was a member of the Mead Church of Christ.

He enjoyed gardening, bird watching, cattle, farming, cutting trees, setting fires, hunting and grafting pecan trees. Most of all, he loved studying the word of God and the mission work he did in Nicaragua and Cuba.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Janelle (Pace) Amlin who had passed away on May 20, 2018; twin sisters, Muriel Davey, Marcella Holland; and grandson, Cameron Simmons.

Survivors include son, John Amlin and wife Michelle of Mead, Okla.; daughter, Brenda Simmons and husband Donny of Mead, Okla.; grandchildren: Nicole Amlin and Josh, Emily Payne and Damian, Jensen Simmons and wife Jenny, Jacoby Simmons, Shelby Amlin and Nate; special nephew, Ralph Holland and wife Jessie; numerous great-great grandchildren as well as other extended family and friends.

A family visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2024, at Gordon Funeral Home in Durant, Okla.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at the Church of Christ in Durant, Okla., with Bro. Logan Cates and Bro. Dale Goad officiating. A graveside service will follow at Restland Cemetery in Silo, Okla. Alan Hobbs, Frank Akin, Chris Howell, Kelly Rains, Dan England and Bennie Green will serve as pallbearers.
