Burnest R. “Buck” Sinor, of Hendrix, Okla., passed away peacefully at home on November 20, 2024, at the age of 92. He was born on July 7, 1932, in the same close-knit community, to Pete and Vinita (Garrison) Sinor. On May 11, 1957, Buck married the love of his life, Velmarie Hackworth. They were married almost 62 years before her death in May of 2019.
Buck proudly served his country in the US Navy and then returned to his hometown area where he spent many years working diligently at a local printing press. An avid outdoorsman, Buck found excitement in calf roping and team roping. His love for trail riding through the Oklahoma landscape was only matched by his passion for the Western genre. Buck could often be found reading a western novel or watching a classic western movie.
Family was the cornerstone of Buck’s life. He was a devoted husband to his late wife, Velmarie, and together they raised a family that would be his greatest legacy. Buck is survived by his loving sons, Marty Sinor and his wife Lori of Hendrix, and Bernie Sinor of Kemp, Oklahoma. His daughters, Tonya Wade and her husband Jimmy of Kemp, and Pam Ahearn, also of Kemp, will forever cherish his memory. Buck is also survived by his brother, Sam Sinor, and his wife Linda of Wichita Falls, Texas. His legacy lives on with his grandchildren, including Jory Wade and his wife Sarah of Durant, Tyler Wade and his wife Terra of Kemp, Christina Redden of Hendrix, Maggie Ahearn of Kemp, and Sheridan Ahearn of New York, New York, his great-grandchildren, including Liam Wade, Cora Wade, Knox Wade and Dax Wade, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Buck was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Vinita Sinor, his loving wife Velmarie Sinor, and his sisters Edith “Tootsie” Sinor Evans, and Joy Sinor Sliger.
Family and friends will gather at his Family Hour on Sunday, November 24, 2024, from 3-4 p.m. at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home.
His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 25, 2024, at Kemp Church of Christ with Jan Kelly officiating. Buck will be laid to rest at Kemp Cemetery following his funeral service.
