Bruce La’Don Boone was born August 1, 1966 in Ada, Okla. to the late Edward Vincent and Barbia Henderson. He passed from this life on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Tishomingo, Oklahoma.
Bruce lived in Johnston County most of his life. He attended school at Tishomingo High School where he graduated with the class of 1984. In 1985, Bruce enlisted in the U. S. Army Reserves where he was a Non-Commissioned officer. While in the the reserves, he received the U.S. Army Achievement Medal for demonstrating outstanding assistance and customer services as the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge. He was also presented with other Certificates of Achievement, Badges, and Service Ribbons. Bruce later went to Platt College in Oklahoma City where he received his certification for private security and investigations. In 2011, he graduated from Oklahoma City Community College with an Associate Degree in Graphic Communications.
At his time of death, Bruce was employed at Big Lots Warehouse in Durant, Okla. Bruce was a very private person but he enjoyed time with his family, especially his daughters. He had a very strong love of music. He didn’t have a particular genre that he listened to; he loved it all. Bruce enjoyed writing music, poetry, reading and loved all kinds of movies.
Bruce was preceded in death by his father; step-father, Charles E. Parker; brother, Eric Vincent; and sister, Tania Boone.
He leaves behind to forever cherish his memory: daughters, Jhayla Boone of Oklahoma City, Mya Boone of Ardmore, and Tia Boone of Ardmore; mother, Barbia Henderson of Oklahoma City; two brothers, one of California and one of Texas; sister, Deirdre Carolina of Oklahoma City; granddaughters, Na’omyi and Serennitii of Oklahoma City; he also leaves three aunts, two uncles and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
Homegoing Services to celebrate the life of Bruce La’Don Boone will be Friday, Jan. 21, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Hartwell Funeral Home Chapel with graveside committal to follow in Shady Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Serving as pall bearers will be Orlando Lewis, Quincy Lewis, Marcus Rogers, Denny Henderson, Morico Lewis, and Cody Lyons. Honorary pall bearers will be Maurice Lewis and Nelson Lewis.
The family has requested that everyone in attendance please wear a mask.
