Billy Joe Beal was born April 20, 1933 in Sinclair County, Alabama and passed February 1, 2022, surrounded by family.
He married the love of his life, Matilda Beatrice, in June 1952.
Before becoming an ordained minister he worked for and retired from W. J. Smith Wood Preserving Company.
B.J. was the pastor of Country Gospel Lighthouse in Colbert for 25 years. He loved Jesus, his family, gardening and telling good stories.
He will be missed here, but we know he is celebrating in heaven.
Billy Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Beal and Ollie Bonds; siblings, John Beal, Jim Beal, Robert Beal, Thomas Beal, Jr., Tim Beal, Iva Timms, Mary Vellotti, and many beloved church family.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Matilda Beatrice; children, Johanna Lovell, Jean Knight (Billy), Joseph Beal (Ella Kay), Ruel Beal (Susan), Edna Clark, Terry Beal (Vicki) and Jim Beal (Janet), and more than 50 grand, great and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 4, 2022, 2 p.m. at Country Gospel Lighthouse, Colbert, Okla. with Randy Hill officiating. Family and friends visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, 1-2 p.m. Interment will follow at Garden of Memory Cemetery, Colbert, Okla.
