Bill Rogers

On June 25, 2019 our Heavenly Father took Bill J. Rodgers, 87, of Durant, to his eternal home. Bill passed in Calera, Okla.

He married Margaret Metcalf on Dec. 28, 1973. He graduated from Durant High School and received his masters in education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

Bill taught school for 20 years in different cities throughout Texas and served as a principal for three years.  He also served in the United States Navy. Bill loved watching all sports with Dallas Cowboys and OU Sooners being his favorites.  Bill and Margaret loved going to garage sales, flea markets, chili cook offs, dancing, and most of all loved being with their family.

He is survived by his children LaQuita Cobb of Mead, Okla., Anthony Kinnett and wife Della of Frisco, Texas, and Christy Hill and husband David of Durant, Okla.; grandchildren: Lori Hines and husband Michael, Stephanie Trout and husband Nathan, Jason Cobb and Julie, and Shawn Cobb. He has 11 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren with two more on the way.

Bill is preceded in death by his wife Margaret, his parents William Otto and Audie Rodgers, brother Arvel Rodgers, nephew Jerry Rodgers and niece Christie Rodgers.

A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home Chapel in Durant. Graveside will follow at Highland Cemetery in Durant. Dr. Ray Earley will be officiating.

Pallbearers will be Nicky Taylor, David Bridges, Jason Cobb, Shawn Cobb, Tyler Cobb, Dylan Cobb, and Shawn Cobb Jr.
