Betty S. Wyrick was born Wednesday, Sept. 20, 1944 in Durant, Okla., to Clovis Wayne Calhoun and Ova Alice (Hogue) Calhoun. She passed from this life on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 in Durant at the age of 76.
Betty was raised and lived all of her life in Durant. She married Burt Wyrick in 1990 and were married until his death in 2004.
Betty began her work history with Four Seasons Nursing Home in Durant as an EMT with the ambulance service. She would later work several years at the Toy Factory in Durant and later at convenience stores in town.
She was also a foster parent to many children in the community. She loved spending time with her family, enjoyed watching her favorite tv shows and working in the yard while tending to her flowers.
Mrs. Wyrick was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Cynthia Alice Tucker; and grandson, L.D. Tucker.
She is survived by her sons, Michael Tucker of Durant, Okla., Wally Tucker and his wife, Donna, of Durant, Okla., and Stephen Wyrick of Durant, Okla.; sisters, Doris Boggs and her husband, Jim, of Roswell, N.M., Clovia Huskey of Dallas, Texas, and Judy Cannon of Roswell, N.M.; grandsons, Jason Tucker and his wife, Jamie, and Trey Tucker; three great-grandchildren, Bryan Tucker, Katlyn Tucker and Joseph Hearn; and other family members and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 2, at Highland Cemetery with Rev. Jim Blagg officiating.
