Betty Jo Dooley

Betty Jo (Speaks) Dooley was born Monday, November 21, 1932 in Kenefic, Okla., to Leonard Speaks and Winnie Bell (Whitmire) Speaks. She passed from this life on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 in her home at Coleman, Okla., at the age of 90.

Betty Jo grew up and is a graduate of Coleman High School. She married the love of her life, Lemuel Clemuel (L.C) Dooley on November 1, 1952 in Quanah, Texas. He preceded her in death on April 4, 1996. Betty Jo worked as a nurse in Denison for several years and as a homemaker most of her life. She enjoyed working alongside L.C. with his carpentry business.

Betty Jo enjoyed going fishing, a game of bowling, and attending church. She loved being with her family and her fur baby, Poppy. Betty Jo was of the Pentecostal faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter, Shirlene Dooley Buffalo; and son Leonard Clemuel Dooley.

Betty Jo is survived by her daughters, Gwendylen White and her husband Lonnie of Kenefic, Okla., Karen Dooley Hoff and her husband Albert of Soper, Okla., and Sherri Bell Mead of Durant, Okla.; sister, Mary Lou West of Coleman, Okla.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services was held on Monday, February 13, 2023 at Folsom Free Will Baptist Church in Folsom with Pastors Harold Brewer and Rayden Whitmire officiating. Serving as casket bearers: D.J. Fritcher, Derek Fritcher, Ronnie West, Jamie Littleton, Stetson Fritcher, and Jay Donihoo serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers: Larry Dooley and Randall West.
