Beryl Royce McCann passed from this life on October 10 in Durant, Okla., at the age of 94 years old. He was born the son of D.J. and Edna McCann (Kessler) on July 22, 1929, in Waverly, Kan.
Beryl moved to Oklahoma where he attended the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine where he earned his doctorate degree in medicine. He and Vivian McCann had three children. Sandra was born in Oklahoma City where they then moved to Nigeria, Africa where Charlotte and Alan were born. He practiced medicine in Nigeria from 1957-1971 as a medical missionary. He then moved his family to Durant, Okla., where he practiced family medicine from 1971-1992 and practiced locum tenens until he retired in 2012. He resided in Lone Grove from 2012-2020 then resided at Brookdale Senior Living in Durant for the remainder of his life.
He is survived by his brother, Paul McCann; daughter, Sandra Scharhag and husband Franz; daughter, Charlotte Blanford and husband Mark; son Alan McCann and wife Randi; grandchildren: Jonathan Blanford and wife Kristen, Chelsea Lindley and husband Devin, Cory McCann and wife Aislinn, Kylee Burgess and husband Josh, and Rebecca Scharhag; great-grandchildren: Emilee, Lyla, Judson, Joshua, Blythe, Kelynn, Gwendolyn, and Asa Blanford; Emrie, Abrie and Grady Lindley.
He is preceded in death by his parents, D.J. and Edna McCann; sister, Lois Morrow; second wife, Lawanna Sue McCann, and third wife, Juana “June” Beal McCann.
A family visitation will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. at Gordon Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Highland Cemetery with Rev. Mark Blanford officiating. Pallbearers will be Alan McCann, Franz Scharhag, Jonathan Blanford, Cory McCann, Devin Lindley, and Josh Burgess.
