Bernard Ray Burkhart was born on March 9, 1939 in Talihina, Okla. to George and Florence Barlow Burkhart. Bernard passed away on Aug. 31, 2019 in Durant, Okla. at the age of 80.
Bernard graduated from Spencer High School in 1957 and received his bachelor’s degree from Central State University in Edmond, Okla. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1960-1962 until his Honorable Discharge. He married Barbara Ann Mick in June 1962 and they were blessed with 44 years until Barbara’s passing in 2006. He worked for WW Trailers as personnel director until his retirement. He was a proud member of the Chickasaw Nation and he enjoyed fishing, baseball and spending time his dear family and friends.
Bernard is survived by is daughters, Roxanne Burkhart of Colbert, Okla. and Susan Hulstine and husband Allen Jr. of Denison, Texas; grandchildren: Madilyn and Aidan Hulstine; sister, Lou Ann Center of Winslow, Ark. and niece, Pam Center of Winslow, Ark.
The family will have a private service at a later date.
