Austin “Bud” Talley was a fine example of honor, duty, and endurance. He passed from this life Tuesday morning, Aug. 3, 2021 at the age of 91. He was born on Friday, Sept. 27, 1929 in Harper Springs, Ark. to Tom Austin and Etta Roda (Evans) Talley.
He fought in World War II during his military service in the Army and fought in the Vietnam War during his Airforce service receiving numerous victory medals.
He fought to stay loving and optimistic after the loss of his wife Betty, his son Tom, and his daughter Shirl.
“Popie” loved spending time talking to family on the phone telling stories, playing music, camping and going out to coffee with friends. Surrounded until the end by his grandson Austin Paul, his wife Hermelinda, and their children Raven and Logan Talley.
His surviving grandchildren: Zach, Andrea, Janelle Fairless, Sarah and Austin Talley will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 9, 2021 at the Monterey Chapel at 224 S. Ninth Ave. in Durant, Okla.
Austin Talley, Paul Wofford, Jr., Zack Fairless, Kevin Marble, Jason Baker and Randy Fairless will serve as pallbearers. Military honors will follow at the graveside in the Highland Cemetery in Durant, Okla.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Gordon Funeral Home, 221 N. Third Ave. in Durant.
