Alan Smarr

Alan Lynn “Stix” Smarr was born March 28, 1988 in Yuba City, Calif. to James Joel Smarr and Debbie Lynn Smarr (Sulser). He passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021 due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Trenton, Texas.

Alan loved hunting, fishing, working on his motorcycle, riding with Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA), helping kids in need, spending time with family and friends and watching storms while listening to the rain with Melody.

A graduate of Durant High School, Alan was a four-year letterman in track, wrestling and cross country. He was active in HOSA where he worked with the elderly and children and found his passion for helping kids. Alan became a member of BACA where he combined his love of motorcycles and his passion for helping abused children.

Alan is preceded in death by his grandfather, James Lee Smarr; great-grandparents Joel and Katy Rambo, Ona Fijacko, Emeric Fijacko, Homer and Laura Sulser, and Oakie and Gladys Smarr; aunts, uncles and many friends.

Alan is survived by his children, Carlee Smarr, 12, and Kase Smarr, 9, of Durant, Okla.; Melody Istre, the love of his life and their sons, Adam, 11, and Ryan Dixson, 4, of the home; parents, James and Debbie Smarr of Durant; brother, James J. (JJ) Smarr of Durant; sister Kaylee Taylor and husband Justin “Boo” of Yukon, Okla.; grandparents Glenda Smarr of Russellville, Ark. and Terry and Kaylynn Sulser of Durant; aunts, Lori (Dean) Krei, Machele Gonzalvez, and Uncle Mike (Terri) Smarr; cousins and many friends. Uncle “Unkie” Alan leaves behind his four nieces Jolee Ann, Ellie Quinn, Emelyn Aren, and Everleigh Allynn, who all thought he hung the moon.

A service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 16, 2021, at Brown’s Funeral Home in Durant, Okla.
