Gaines G. Babb of Durant, Okla. passed from this life on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019 at the age of 79. He was born on Thursday, Sept. 21, 1939 in Bennington, Okla. to Berty Garfield and Sarah Elizabeth (Graham) Babb. He returned to Durant for health reasons in 2018.
He was an avid car show enthusiast. He won many awards with his 1936 GMC pickup that he loved so much. He enjoyed gardening and antiques. He was a proficient mechanic and woodworker. He completely remodeled a few homes and was a regular “jack-of-all-trades.” Most of all he loved his family and spending time with them. He worked for Earthgrains in Paris, Texas where he accomplished his one million miles safe driver. He was a member of the Paris Bible Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bert and Sally Babb; brothers: Andrew, Dossey, J.B.; sisters: Dortha, Arlenia, Vernita and grandson Casey Sparks.
He is survived by daughters: Kim Elsom and husband Gregg of Silo, Okla., Gainia Finley and husband James of Durant, Okla.; sister Leona Reynolds of Bokchito, Okla.; grandchildren: Destiny Perez and husband Joe, Bailey Nelson and wife Mary, Trey Finley, Cassie Elsom; great-grandchildren: Ayce, Jett, Beau, Kallie, Elizabeth numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, 2019 at the Jackson Cemetery in Bennington, Okla.
Bro. Leon Yeazey will be officiating.
